ATLANTA
— The Carter Center has launched a first of its kind database to consolidate more than 150 sources of international law that can be used by international and election observers to assess elections.

The nonprofit Atlanta-based center said Tuesday the database is an important step in building consensus toward a single set of internationally accepted criteria for assessing democratic elections.

The Database of Obligations for Democratic Elections is a searchable project that the center hopes will also allow interested citizens to learn more about a country's human rights obligations regarding democratic elections.
