Purpose:
The work of MRCT concerns torture victims among refugees. These people used to live in a uncertain situation until their recognition. We provide them with medical psychological treatment, legal advices and social support. On the second hand, we work in the field of prevention of torture in Greece by giving seminars to the police officers and by denouncing and making public any action, which abuses human rights. Such announcements concern prisoners, asylum seekers and refugees.

We advocate human rights in our society and through mass media we try to sensitize the Greek society on the issues of this population. Our work is related the International Convention for the Abolition of Torture and other Degrading, Inhuman Treatment or Punishment. Also, the European Convention for the Prevention of Torture.

Keeping the government alert so to respect the ratification of these two Conventions, we believe that we support the Good Governance and respect of basic human right that is the Freedom from Torture. The MRCT works in Partnership with Amnesty International Greece, the International Council for Victims of Torture (IRCT), and the UNHCR Greece.
