A national governance assessment and its indicators are a public good to be used by national stakeholders and individuals. The nature of a governance assessment as a public good assumes its dissemination to users in an accessible, equitable manner. This means that all efforts should be made to ensure that the assessment is publicly available and is accessible to the broadest range of stakeholders, using a variety of presentation and dissemination methods that are accessible and comprehensible.
The communication and dissemination of governance assessments, governance indicators and governance data is critical for their use in policymaking processes. Effective communication and dissemination of governance indicators help bridge the large divide between data-producing organisations and data users. This divide is partly responsible for the lack of extensive use of governance data in advocacy efforts and policymaking processes.
