Quality of care has emerged as the central issue in management of public health programme in India. The policy environment has encouraged policy makers, programme managers and key stakeholders to work towards enhancing quality of care. The need for improving quality of care is intensely realized, as the health services remain grossly underutilized despite an extensive network of health infrastructure.
