UN-HABITAT has developed a number of indicator sets and indexes related to land governance, particularly urban governance. The Global Urban Observatory (GUO), set up by UN-HABITAT, uses an extensive system of indicators, including indicators on land tenure security, as part of its efforts to monitor urban trends. Through GUO, UN-HABITAT supports the Urban Observatory Network of government and non-government organizations engaged in urban monitoring. UN-HABITAT also produces the Urban Governance Index, an advocacy and capacity building tool to assist cities and countries in monitoring the quality of urban governance. |
