World Bank - Social Development Department

The World Bank's Social Development Department is concerned with empowering people by creating more inclusive, cohesive and accountable institutions. A main thematic focus for the department is conflict, crime and violence.

The Social Development Department has developed a Conflict Analysis Framework (CAF) to enhance conflict sensitivity and conflict prevention potential of World Bank assistance. The CAF analyzes key factors influencing conflict, focusing on six areas: social and ethnic relations; governance and political institutions; human rights and security; economic structure and performance; environment and natural resources; and external factors.
