Project Review Report: How Democratic is Democracy in Chile?
Source of the information:
Munck , Gerardo
This report offers an overview of the UNDP-sponsored project that aims at producing a democracy audit in Chile and that is formally entitled “Governance Assessment: How Democratic is Democracy in Chile?” The report is based on a review of a comprehensive set of documents related to the project, though not the democracy audit itself. It also draws on interviews, carried in Santiago, Chile in September 2011, with members of the various groups involved with the project (see Annex I). The work on a democracy audit in Chile has been underway for over two years. And it deserves to be seen largely as a bold and successful project. But the key product, the democracy audit itself, is provisionally due for release in March 2012. Thus, this evaluation must be considered as somewhat preliminary.
